I am interested in studying interior design, as I would like to strengthen my drawing skills, research further into interior designers and broaden my knowledge within art and design. I would like to further my studies as I aspire to be an interior designer and design a creation that expresses me.

Having the opportunity to travel with my parents has allowed me to explore different styles of interiors and exteriors, from historical to futuristic. I love to experiment with new things such as different techniques in drawing or using different materials. I am highly self-motivated and hard working as I enjoy the feeling of completing something. Although I can work well by myself, I am also confident with working in groups. 

The work I have submitted represents me through textiles and drawings to photography. I believe issues such as storage space are important to create a comfortable environment therefore I often design whilst increasing storage space. Many artists have inspired me within my work through magazines, books and websites. I enjoy photography as a hobby as well as a subject, presentation is really important hence why I use foam board and exact measurements and resolutions for my images. I also enjoy film photography as the outcome is fulfilling and the effects are different from digital photography. The textiles piece I have submitted relates to the theme rhythms and cycles, the final piece shows structures as I used a strong material that holds folds well and a colour scheme of some buildings I was researching into. The observational drawings I have submitted show different angles, media and details. I have also been using programs such as 2D design to create a restaurant interior; this has allowed me to elaborate my skills in digital designing.

Simple bedroom design

I began by drawing the centre piece such as the bed then I started to draw in the wardrobes, drawers and the side sofa bench, I have tried to increase storage space in the bedroom as this may often be an issue in real life. The bench is just below the window therefore it  links in with the electric ceiling window as it is relaxing.

Sunken living room design

I have always be inspired by sunken living rooms therefore I wanted to design a living room with a sunken living room, I believe sunken living rooms are a unique way of creating much more of a spacious interior. Whilst drawing, I often think about space saving or creating more storage space. On the right handside of the design, there is a small dining area, this was inspired by the japanese dining interiors I have seen where the floor is sunken just like the sunken living room.

Rhythms through origami

This was made for my AS Textiles final piece, I was inspired by many origami books which made me think about the relationship of rhythms and cycles within origami. This piece was made using a cotton backing piece with folded fabric which holds folds really well, the fabric allowed me to create different structures and create a repeated pattern. I wanted the piece to have a much more professional finish therefore I made a wooden frame and painted it with black as I wanted the main focus to be on the textiles piece.

Cupcake photography

This is my A2 Photography unit 3 final piece, the theme was forms and frameworks. I decided to base my final piece on photography of cupcakes as throughout the unit I had been looking at food, especially cupcakes. Food has different forms and frameworks such as recipes, taste, colour and structure. I made all of my cupcakes and piped the buttercream on delicately creating different swirls as it would create a different 'form' each time.

Rhythms and Cycles photography

 

For my AS photography final piece I decided to use digital and film photography. I love the effects of film photography and using different filters to increase contrast. I wanted to use digital and film as I could use photoshop to emphasize the rhythm of the body and the different movements. I also used different amounts of foam board to layer each piece to create a rhythm within the actual final piece.

Natural form colour pencil drawing

 

This colour pencil drawing shows the colours of the pumpkin, I decided to use a bold colour and design for the background as it was abnormal and created its own structure. I used colour pencils for the pumpkin as coloured pencils allow me to blend different colours yet also have a slight grain effect.

St pauls film photography

I used film photography for this piece as I personally prefer the effect it creates and the experience of using the dark room as you learn from trial and error throughout enlarging prints. I made several prints of the same photographs then cut them and layered them up on base photo, this made the photograph look three-dimensional.

Trinket box parts

 

This is a pencil tonal drawing of the inside of a trinket box, I was looking at the theme of rhythms and cycles therefore I thought this would relate really well as music has a melody and it repeats itself constantly. This also shows a structure as the different parts remind me of machinery.

natural forms shell

 

I used pencil to draw this shell as I could show the tonal differences and the unique pattern of the actual shell. Shells remind me of structures of existing buildings as there are several building designs based on natural forms such as shells.

restaurant interior

 

This is one of my designs for the restaurant interior, I have decided to use a wooden frame with large coloured glass tiles to create a unique and effective partition wall between the dining area and the hallway. This design is suitable for a contemporary chinese restaurant.
